Costs & Fees

Sara Cohen School Fees – $0.00

Sara Cohen School has opted into the Ministry of Education’s Donations Scheme.  This means for parents and caregivers that there are no fees involved with sending your child/children to Sara Cohen School.  All stationery and money for outings/entry into places are covered by the school.

School uniforms will be provided by Sara Cohen School initially upon enrolment.

Sara Cohen School

New Build

Sara Cohen’s base school in Rutherford Street Caversham is getting a new re-build at 38 Riselaw Road, the old Calton Hill School site.

The building work is nearing completion with the estimated date of completion being the end of Term 2, 2025.

Lunch in Schools

Sara Cohen School provide healthy school lunches every day to all students through the Ka Ora Ka Ako Healthy School Lunches Programme.

The Ka Ora, Ka Ako Healthy School Lunches programme aims to reduce food insecurity by providing access to a nutritious lunch in school every day. Around a million lunches are provided each week. Sara Cohen School has opted to make our own healthy lunches here at school.

Menus are usually set for the Term and parents/caregivers are sent a copy of the menu.

Enrolment

A Specialist Education Agreement (Section 37) must be in place for any student to enrol at Sara Cohen School.

A Specialist Education Agreement is a formal agreement between the Ministry of Education and the parent or guardian of the child.

A Specialist Education Agreement allows students to enrol in a specialist school. It also allows students to enrol outside the legal age in exceptional circumstances.

Before a student is enrolled in a specialist school, a conversation with the Ministry of Education, the parents/caregivers and the school takes place.

Transport

Transport may be provided as part of the Specialised School Transport Assistance (SESTA) this is not included in the Specialist Education Agreement (Section 37).  Parents need to apply for this separately, this can be done through the school once your child has enrolled.  Transport options include children being picked up and dropped off by Go Bus or parents can apply for a conveyance allowance (petrol money) to drop off and pick up yourself.
